Open any course page and select "Start Course." If you're already signed in, you'll be enrolled instantly and dropped straight into the first lesson. If you're not signed in yet, you'll be asked to create a free account or log in first — after that, enrollment is automatic.

It depends on the course. Every course is labeled Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced so you can pick the right starting point. Many students join with zero technical background and begin with a Beginner-level track such as Web Development Foundations; more advanced tracks like Cloud, Blockchain, or Data Engineering generally assume some prior programming exposure.

A modern browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Safari) and a stable internet connection are all you need. Courses run entirely in your browser, so there's nothing to install for most tracks. The site is also fully responsive, so you can learn from a laptop, desktop, or tablet.

Yes — every course is entirely self-paced. There are no deadlines and no penalty for pausing. Your progress is saved automatically, so you can pick up exactly where you left off whenever you come back, whether that's later the same day or months down the line.

Completing all lessons and passing the course's final quiz unlocks a certificate of completion tied to your SmartTech Academy profile. From your dashboard you can download it as a PDF or share it directly to LinkedIn.

Yes. Every certificate carries a unique certificate number that anyone — an employer, recruiter, or peer — can check on our public certificate verification page to confirm it was actually issued by SmartTech Academy, to whom, and for which course.

No, and we're upfront about that. A SmartTech Academy certificate confirms that you completed our curriculum and met its passing requirements — it is not an accredited degree or a professional certification issued by a government body or accrediting institution, and we can't guarantee how any individual employer will view it. That said, many students successfully use their certificates and portfolio projects to support job applications.

Yes. You can retake a course quiz as many times as you need to pass — there's no limit and no penalty for retrying. Your "My Quiz Attempts" page in the dashboard keeps a full history of every attempt and score.

Some do — where a quiz is timed, the time allowed is shown before you start, along with a live countdown while you're taking it. If time runs out, the quiz is submitted automatically with whatever answers you'd entered up to that point, so you never lose progress by running over. Untimed quizzes have no countdown at all.

Yes — once you're enrolled in a course, you can leave a star rating and a written review from the course page, which is shown publicly under your name. Reviews are expected to follow our Acceptable Use policy; our moderation team can remove a review that violates it (for example, harassment or unlawful content) or that's reported by another user.

Most tracks are project-based. Alongside lesson videos you'll work through structured exercises and, in many courses, a capstone project — so by the time you finish, you have something concrete for your portfolio, not just a certificate.

Each course is assembled by our curriculum team from real, publicly-published lessons by working engineers and content creators on YouTube — the "Instructor" shown on a course page is the creator most featured in that course's own lessons, credited by name with a link to their channel. We choose creators for the depth and accuracy of their teaching, not because they work for SmartTech Academy.

Yes. There's no financial commitment and no formal withdrawal process. Simply stop accessing the course whenever you like — your progress is saved indefinitely, and you're welcome to resume later or never come back, with no penalty either way.

Yes. From your certificate — on your dashboard or on its public verification page — you can share it directly to X, Facebook, Telegram, or WhatsApp, or use the dedicated "Add to LinkedIn Profile" button, which opens LinkedIn's own certification form pre-filled with your course name, SmartTech Academy as the issuing organization, and a link back to your certificate's verification page.

Some are, some aren't. We regularly host free community sessions, live Q&As, and workshops that anyone can reserve a spot at — no account required. Select flagship events and specialized workshops are ticketed, meaning you'll need to purchase a ticket to attend. Every event page clearly states whether it's free or ticketed, and the ticket price if applicable, before you register.

Open the event's details page and fill in your name, email, and phone number. If you're signed in and the email matches your account, you're booked immediately since your account email is already verified. In every other case — a signed-out visitor, or a signed-in user booking on someone else's behalf — we send a 6-digit verification code to the email provided; enter it to confirm. Once verified, your ticket (with a QR code, the event's address, and its enquiry phone numbers) appears on screen and is emailed to you, and a duplicate reservation with the same email or phone for the same event is automatically blocked.

Open the event's details page and select the ticket option — you'll be guided through a secure checkout to complete your purchase. Once payment is confirmed, your ticket and any joining instructions are sent to the email on your account and made available from your dashboard.

Refund eligibility depends on how far in advance you cancel relative to the event date; our full refund and cancellation terms — including how to request one — are set out in the Payments, Tickets & Refunds section of our Terms of Use. If an event is cancelled or rescheduled by SmartTech Academy, ticket holders are notified and offered a full refund or transfer to the rescheduled date.

Where a session is recorded and the speaker has consented to distribution, we make the recording available to registered attendees after the event. Not every session is recorded, so check the specific event page for details.

Course certificates and event attendance are separate. Some workshops offer a participation confirmation, but the certificate-of-completion system described elsewhere in this FAQ applies to finishing a course, not to attending a single event.

Go to "My Profile" or "Settings" in your dashboard to update your name, bio, profile photo, and other details at any time. Changes to sensitive details like your email address may require you to confirm the change from a verification link we send you.

We ask that you keep to one account per person. Creating multiple accounts to get around platform limits, such as concurrent device limits, isn't permitted under our Terms of Use.

Select "Forgot Password" on the login page and enter the email address on your account. We'll send a secure reset link that's valid for a limited time. If you don't see the email within a few minutes, check your spam folder before contacting support.

No. Course tuition is, and always will be, free. The only charges on SmartTech Academy are optional ticket purchases for select paid events, which you actively choose and pay for at checkout.

"My Wishlist" lets you bookmark courses you're interested in but aren't ready to start yet, so you can find them quickly later from your dashboard instead of searching the catalog again.

You can close your account at any time from your dashboard settings. If you'd like your personal data deleted as well, contact us and we'll process the request in line with the data-deletion rights described in our Privacy Policy.

Yes — from Settings' Appearance tab you can choose the background shown behind your avatar on your dashboard, picking from a gallery of designed patterns or a gallery of real photos (nature, woods, pasture, animals, and cars). Your choice is saved to your profile and follows you across devices.

Settings' Appearance tab lets you switch the dashboard, navigation, and account pages between English, Spanish, Argentine Spanish, French, German, Dutch, Portuguese, Russian, Chinese, Hindi, Yoruba, Igbo, and Hausa. Your choice is remembered on future visits. Course and event content itself is currently English-only; we're working on expanding translated coverage there.

Yes. Notes you attach to a lesson are visible only to you by default — not to other students, and not routinely reviewed by our staff. If a note is specifically reported for a documented reason, an authorized administrator can open that note to investigate, and doing so is logged. See our Privacy Policy for the full detail.

First, check your internet connection and try refreshing the page. If that doesn't help, try a different supported browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Safari, kept up to date) or clear your browser cache. If the problem continues, contact support with the course name, lesson, and a screenshot if possible so we can investigate.

Yes, the entire site is built mobile-responsive, so course pages, quizzes, and your dashboard all adapt to smaller screens. For extended lesson-watching, many students still prefer a larger screen, but everything is fully usable on a phone.

Progress is saved automatically as you complete lessons while signed in. If progress appears to be missing, make sure you were logged into the correct account and that the lesson was marked complete before you navigated away, then contact support so we can look into your specific case.

Use the Contact page to report any technical issue, and use the report option available on user-submitted content (such as forum posts or comments) to flag anything that violates our Acceptable Use policy.
